Max File Encryption encrypts and decrypts files by using the Blowfish algorithm. Even though this algorithm is old, it’s still very secure. The program has three methods of creating encrypted files: standard (creates a MFE file), self-decrypting (creates an EXE file) or steganography (hides the content in another file).
Self-decrypting packages are a great way of encrypting content when you need to send it to somebody or carry it around with you (on a memory stick for example). Such a package does not require any additional program to be installed so it can be run and decrypted on any computer. The generated EXE file will ask for the password on startup. After the right password is entered, you can launch the files from within the package or extract them.
The steganography method is very interesting and also secure. It allows you to encrypt and hide content in your media files (images, music, videos). This method is useful because the files don’t attract attention to themselves.
The program is very easy to use, mainly because it’s simple. The price for the full version may seem a little high but it’s just right for such a type of application.
